Need I say more? The facts speak for themselves. Blogging is critical. On the assumption that you have a website without a blog, start one, immediately. Otherwise, stop what you’re doing. You’re just wasting your time. Read on.

Fact number 1: 40 % of US Companies use a blog for marketing purposes.

Suppose you have a website that sells the best products or services that money can buy. So do millions of other websites. Do you think that, by listing those products or services, people will jump at the chance to buy? Sorry, I tried this years ago, and it doesn’t work.

On the other hand, a website with a blog, describing how your products or services will benefit a potential customer will make people want to buy. Don’t just confine your blog to your products or services. Include other human interest stories that people will enjoy reading. Mix it up. People want to read about other interesting things.

Here’s an example. Suppose you have a website that sells golf equipment. Tell your readers about your day on the golf course, when you shot a record 72, and made 4 birdies on the back nine. Do you think this will give you credibility in the minds of your readers and potential customers? You better believe it will! Credibility leads to more visitors, and more sales. Remember, you sell the equipment you used to shoot 72, without which, there would be not blog post.

Fact number 2: Web sites that blog have 55% more visitors.

People don’t come to any website the first time to buy. They want adventure. They want to be entertained. Some want to be pissed off. In a nutshell, people are interested in what your website can offer them. It’s all about benefits. Before I go to any website, my only question is, “How can I benefit from going to this site?

Give people what they want, and I guarantee you they’ll come back for more. Even the people who are pissed off will come back. And just watch. Some will come back just to buy. This has everything to do with branding yourself. Once you’ve established your brand, you’ll get more sales. People now know you. And remember, you did this with a blog.

Fact number 3: Companies that blog get 88% more leads than those that don’t.

By now, you should know how this works. Don’t just throw products at them and hope for the best. The best will never come unless you wine and dine them. That’s what your blog is supposed to do. Constantly write about interesting stories that relate to your niche. You’re human. You’re unique. Surely you have interesting stories you can tell your readers about. Interest them. Entertain them. Make them want to come back for more. Many will come back because they’ve gotten to know you, and they like you. They can’t help liking you because you continue to give them valuable information that will have an impact on a part of their lives. Once they’ve gotten to know you, you have potential customers.

Fact number 4: The richest and most successful people in online marketing made their money only from blogging.

A little over a year ago, I wrote an article about how blogging can make you a millionaire. Excuse me, I meant, a multi-millionaire. Many online entrepreneurs have sold their websites for as much as $35 million.

Run a Google search on “Millionaire Bloggers”, and you’ll see that the list is endless. What’s most incredible is, these guy never had any intention of making a dime. They were interested in something they loved, and shared their interests with millions and millions of readers. Consequently, they did this in a way that showed readers how much they loved what they were doing.

So you see, there is more money in blogging than in all the other areas of Online Marketing put together.

Concluding thoughts

Get a blog started right away. You will not be successful unless you have one. Blogging is the life blood of any website.

Perhaps writing is not your strong point. It doesn’t matter. You certainly can talk to people. Instead of talking to people with your voice, do it with written words. Perhaps you’re not William Shakespeare. Do you think I’d read a blog written in his style of writing? Not a chance. I want to read a blog written by someone who would say the same thing to me in a normal conversation.

I could write, “Thou shalt start a blog, or blistered be thy tongue.” I don’t think William Shakespeare would have been a good blogger in 2017.
