Website traffic – Makes you or breaks you
I would never write anything against getting website traffic. You have to have it. Otherwise, you’re not going to stay in business very long. If no one sees your website, there are no sales, simple as that. Traffic is the lifeblood of your business. But as important as website traffic is, there are certain kinds of traffic that will actually damage your rankings with Google. Getting the right kind of traffic is more important than getting traffic, just for the sake of traffic.
Never get website traffic, just for the sake of getting traffic
I’ll get right to the point. There are many traffic exchange websites out there, such as HitLeap, Hit2Hit and 10KHits, that are not worth wasting your time with. It’s all very simple. Just sign up for them. They’re all free, and are worth exactly what you pay for them – nothing.
About 20 minutes after you set them up, you’ll see tons of traffic coming to your website. The next day, try tracking your traffic on Google Analytics, and you’ll see tons of visitors. But the problem is, you won’t be able to tell where the traffic is coming from. The traffic is identified as coming from an “unknown source”. That’s not going to do you one bit of good. When Google sees this, they’ll rip you apart.
These traffic exchange websites display your website all over the internet, only because they know you want any kind of traffic you can get. Do any of these sites mention anything about targeted traffic? They can’t because it would be false advertising, but do they really care? I doubt it.
They’re doing the same thing for the other suckers who have signed up for their programs. Your website is displayed, but never seen by anyone. Even if your website is seen, the people seeing it have no interest, whatsoever, in what you have to say or offer. I assure you, if you depend on one of these traffic exchange sites to get website traffic, you’re not going to make any conversions and sales.
People are misled into believing these traffic exchange programs will increase your Google and Alexa rankings. This is the farthest thing from the truth.
Don’t get suckered in on this concept. It’s nothing but a racket. They promise you so much, and they do deliver. While they do deliver traffic, the website traffic you get from these sources has no substance. In other words, it’s completely worthless.
Finally, traffic from a traffic exchange website is like setting up a store in the middle of the desert and advertising it all over the world. People know about it, but they don’t care.
