Successful people know what they want to accomplish, and where they are going. More importantly, they know exactly what they have to do to get there. They have developed good habits. If you want to be one of these successful people, develop the following habits, and you will find yourself doing them every day, automatically.
Successful people make a “To Do” list
The most successful people have a relatively short list. This list should contain no more than 6 tasks. By creating a to do list every day, this provides the opportunity to see what tasks have the most priority, and are the most important. As the tasks are performed, the items are checked off. The people who benefit most from this list are the ones who refuse to stop working for the day, until every item is checked off.
Successful people know what they will do the next day, before going to bed
With careful planning, you can make anything successful, no matter what it is. People who don’t plan, and don’t know what they are going to do the next day will get nothing done. Successful people know what they’re going to do the next day. This gives them a reason to wake up, do what they have to do, and do it successfully.
Productive people wake up earlier
Successful people don’t sleep in when they have important things to do that will make their business successful. Sleeping in causes half the day to be totally lost, and useless. As a result, the mind is focused on less important things.
Also, waking up 30 minutes before you begin working can be just as harmful. Productive people awake about 2 to 3 hours before they begin work. They have their coffee, relax their minds and reflect on the productive day they are about to have. The result is, when they begin working, they know exactly what they are going to do.
Successful people get enough sleep
Some people will say, “If you want to be successful, you have to stop sleeping.” This is not true. Productive people allow themselves the rest they need in order to continue doing the things they need to do, while being at their best. Generally speaking, we all should get 7 to 8 hours sleep each night. But this depends on the person. Some people are just as productive with 6 to 6 and a half hours sleep. On the other hand, sleeping in, and getting too much sleep will tend to make a person lazy. Laziness has no place whatsoever in productivity.
Successful people don’t browse the internet for play or fun
They don’t waste time. This is the number one setback that separates success from failure. The most productive people know what they have to do, and do it. They don’t get sidetracked by stopping to browse their friends’ profiles on Facebook, or watching unrelated YouTube videos. If you’re working to be successful, you must do the things that are more important. Once you’re successful, you’ll have plenty of time to play around on the internet. Productive people know all about this.
Productive people don’t allow “Information Overload”
If you know what you want to accomplish, and what you want to do, you should already have the knowledge needed. Unfortunately, many feel the need to continue learning, when they know what they need to know to complete a job. The successful person spends 80 percent of the time executing, and 20 percent learning. For unsuccessful people, the numbers are reversed – 20 percent on execution and 80 percent learning. Successful people know they already have the resources they need, and use what they have.
Successful people work out
I’m not talking about strenuous workouts. All that is needed is a few minutes on a treadmill, or a twenty minute bike ride. Just a little something to get you pumped-up will make a huge difference. This relaxes the body, as well as the mind, and will enable you to come back and do the work you need to so with a clear mind.
The most successful people develop good habits
Once you get into the habit of doing something, it’s hard to break. This applies to good habits as well as bad. All of the things successful people do, mentioned above, are the habits they have developed. The most successful people have become so accustomed to these good habits, that they do them every day, automatically.
